We're in Malasia!

we arrived in kuala lumpur today. the train ride was miserable, but that's what we get for not getting our tickets sooner and being stuck with regular seats instead of sleeper seats. we're in our guest house, and the room is cheap, clean, and currently strung up with clothes lines enough to make it look like a chinese laundry. we're planning on going to see the towers tonight, after dinner, and tomorrow we're going to go see the blue mosque before we leave. tomorrow night we leave on our 2 day sojourn to bangkok, thailand.
they have wi-fi here at the guest house, so later on i'll make sure i get some pictures up. there isn't a lot to report right now, but i'll keep you all updated.

Singapore Fling 2

alright, since i was tired and sweaty yesterday, i didn't write much. but, today, i am fresh and clean, so i will tell you everything that has happened so far.

after lulu and i got to singapore, we got checked into the fragrance hostel. it's pretty awesome, it's a whopping S$25 a night, and it's located (conveniently, i might add,) in little india. after we got checked in, we walked around and explored a bit, and had mutton briyani for lunch. later on, we found a place that does henna, and lulu got a really pretty flower pattern on her left hand, and i ended up getting a paisley and flower pattern on both hands from fingertips to elbows.

the next day, we went to the chinese gardens, and spent about 4 hours walking around and looking at everything. they have a turtle and tortise museum, and so naturally we had to see it and feed the turtles. there was also a smaller japanese garden on the premises, and it was really pretty, but not quite like the gardens you see in japan. afterwards, we went to chinatown. we had lunch at a noodle shop in the people's park food court, then went and walked around. we toured the inside of a hindu temple, and a buddhist temple that houses a buddha's tooth relic. the buddhist temple also had a wonderful museum, and a reference library and gift shop. they were having evening services when we were getting done, so we watched a few minutes of that. when we were done, we went to the people's park mall, and i bought a better backpack (sorry, cari, i'm sending yours home, this one is smaller and lighter!) for about S$40, and then lulu and i had a reflexology foot and shoulder massage. it was totally awesome. we had dinner at annalakshmi in the china point mall, a nice vegetarian indian restaurant, with the philosophy of "eat what you like, and pay what you feel". it was great food, and we decided that $20 was good for our meal.

today, we found the train station that we'll leave to kuala lumpur from tomorrow. we bought our tickets, and exchanged some monies. after getting back to little india, we ran by the sari shop we liked and picked up 2 saris for lulu and one for me. we picked up what we were going to send home and went off to the post office. we got everything sent home on a slow boat to japan, and then walked to the arab quarter. we toured around there, took pictures of the sultan mosque, visited the malay heritage center and saw the museum and the malay in photography exhibit, and then had dinner at a lebanese restaurant. the music was a bizarre mix of things, to include american 90's music, and we caught our waiter busting a groove to whitney houston's "i'm every woman". it was pretty awesome. then we walked back to the hostel, showered, and here i am, relating all of this to you.

tomorrow night we go to kuala lumpur, malaysia, and we're planning on seeing a few more things during the day. i'll keep you all posted on what we're up to, and as soon as we can find some wifi, i'll upload some photos. hope you all are having fun without me!

Singapore fling

So Lulu and I made it safely to Singapore on an AMC flight from Yokota. We're staying in a really awesome little hostel in Little India. We've visited Chinatown, the Chinese Gardens, a Buddhist temple housing a Buddha's tooth relic, a Hindu temple, some of Little India, and tomorrow we're going to go see the Arab Quarter and the rest of Little India. I'll post more later. I'm tired.
